What is EYE?
The 2011 Episcopal Youth Event (E.Y.E.) will be June 22-29, 2011 at Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota for young people who have just finished 9th-12th grade this year. E.Y.E. is designed to be an immersion experience in the baptismal covenant and to extend the mission and ministry of the Church. It is the second largest event in the Episcopal Church and the single largest youth event in the Episcopal Church. It is attended by some 1,500 young people, adult sponsors, bishops, staff, and resource people. E.Y.E. is an opportunity to meet other youth from around the world and experience the church on a global level. The event community gathers regularly as a large group for worship, program, music, and fun! Participants also meet daily with a small group. A variety of other activities, including festivals, forums, workshops, sports/recreation, and free time round out the schedule.
Our NJ delegation will close out the trip with a 3-day pilgrimage that will take us on a journey through the heart of Native American Minnesota. Through canoe trips, storytelling and experiences of wilderness, this pilgrimage will bring to life the historical experiences of indigenous people in the early history of the state of Minnesota.
Can I go to EYE?
The Diocese of New Jersey will bring a delegation of 15 people (12 youth and 3 adults). Our application process is now open and all applications are due by March 1, 2011. The Diocesan Youth Ministry Office will select 12 applicants who represent the breadth and diversity of the diocese to be a part of the delegation.
What does it cost?
It is free to apply. If you are selected to be a part of NJ's delegation, the cost is $800 - which includes round-trip air travel, lodging, food, and all programs. Scholarships are available by contacting the Youth Ministry Office.
