Going Green

In the face of climate change and a global recession, it has become more evident than ever that we must be careful and responsible with all of God's creation.  In that spirit, the Youth Ministry Office has been taking steps for some time now to reduce waste and energy consumption as well as lower costs.

1. Implemented paperless event registration and payment

2. Implemented paperless evaluation modules

3. Reduced supplies and paper used at Diocesan Youth Events

4. Reduced frequency and cost of meals for meetings

5. Increased correspondence and planning by phone/internet (thereby decreasing travel expenses)

6. Discontinued 2 of our smaller youth events (Youth at Convention and Generation)

7. Added an event that costs the diocese nothing (NJ Day at Six Flags)

8. Sharing the cost of travel to national youth events with neighboring dioceses

9. Utilizing website, email, facebook, and texting to minimize paper publicizing and correspondence

10. Frequently recycle and reuse supplies from event to event to minimize purchases and waste

There are simple steps that we can all take to become better stewards of God's creation.  Here are some ideas for you!
